The Oregon East Symphony and Chorale is based in Pendleton, Oregon, a remote town of about 16,000 nestled at the base of the Blue Mountains in Eastern Oregon. Our full symphony orchestra is comprised of professional and amateur musicians from all over Oregon and Washington. We present six concerts each season at the Vert Auditorium in Pendleton. Our Chorale is comprised of local professional and amateur vocalists and presents concerts independently and in conjunction with the symphony.
Kenneth Woods is the Music Director of OES. Based out of Wales, Ken has a busy schedule as an international freelance conductor, working with groups such as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Surrey Mozart Players, and Rose City Chamber Orchestra.
In addition to Symphony and Chorale concerts, OES musicians enrich the musical landscape in Pendleton in creative and inspiring ways through chamber music recitals, student recitals, and music for special events.
Of very special interest is our youth programs, Playing For Keeps. These programs include two youth orchestras, a young voices choir, lesson scholarships, scholarships for instrument rentals, our Summer Music Camp at Blue Mountain Community College, the Young Artists Competition, school tours and concerts, family concerts, and free tickets for students to any of our regular season concerts. Well over 1500 young people each year take advantage of one of our youth programs, all of which we strive to keep low cost and accessible.
